SEMI-CLOSED GREENHOUSE
To increase their profitability, farmers need to increase production while reducing costs and waste. The key is to increase yields by avoiding conditions that can slow down plant growth.
Modern greenhouse complexes allow for more precise climate control thanks to new technologies in heating, cooling, CO2 enhancement, and supplemental lighting. However, such innovations can entail higher production costs.
5th generation greenhouses offer a new method that promises better results than traditional glass greenhouses. They are expected to increase yields, use resources more efficiently, and reduce waste.
The main difference between traditional and 5th generation greenhouses is the way they control the climate. Traditional greenhouses use passive ventilation to regulate air and temperature. But new generation greenhouses actively control the climate using fans and special chambers.
They also have fewer ventilation windows, which allows more light to pass through and protects against external influences. The climate is controlled by circulating air under the plants through special pipes. Mixing chambers allow the combination of indoor and outdoor air, regulating temperature, humidity and CO2 levels.
In hot climates, evaporative cooling can be used. This system creates positive pressure in the greenhouse, which helps maintain the desired climate and protects against pests.
